Despite the current state of the running back position, the Baltimore Ravens signed Lamar Jackson to a five-year, $260 million deal in the offseason.
It’s a good thing he plays quarterback too, otherwise, his contract wouldn’t have been nearly that size.
With all joking aside, running backs across the league have continued to express their discontent with their rate of pay.
Jackson’s teammate, J.K. Dobbins, will soon be up for a contract extension.
In a recent conversation on the NFL Network with Mike Garafolo, Jackson pledged his support for Dobbins.
“He’s one of the guys that sparks the offense and gets us going,” Jackson said.

Jackson also added, “I can’t wait for him to get back on our field with us.”
Dobbins’ value, at least to Jackson, is extremely valuable.
While Jackson has the propensity to take off on the run himself, having Dobbins in the backfield is also vital for the function of this offense.
Without a powerful back, the Ravens’ offense couldn’t function as well, as Jackson wouldn’t have as much opportunity to pass efficiently.
Dobbins is entering his fourth NFL season, which is typically a time that players tend to receive their second contract.
Given his position as running back, however, the likelihood of a proper extension isn’t likely, if current trends are any indication.
With slightly more than a month left until the regular season begins, the team will have the decision to make with Dobbins.
Either extend him this offseason or wait until the conclusion of the year, when they would likely franchise tag him.
