With a new offensive coordinator in Todd Monken, Baltimore Ravens superstar Lamar Jackson was able to show off more diversity in his game at the quarterback position.

Tabbed as a runner for his ability to take the football himself and break off highlight-reel plays on his own, Jackson showed more poise in the pocket and better accuracy throwing toward the short and intermediate areas of the field.

Jackson threw for 3,678 yards and 24 touchdowns compared to just seven interceptions, a clear sign of growth as a passer.

He added to his incredible end-of-season statline with 821 rushing yards and five touchdowns on the ground.

For his efforts, Jackson was awarded with his second NFL MVP award and led Baltimore all the way to the AFC Championship Game where they fell short against the eventual Super Bowl champions the Kansas City Chiefs.

Jackson is poised for another big year, though he was recently sent home from training camp with an apparent illness via Adam Schefter of ESPN.

“Ravens QB Lamar Jackson was sent home today from practice with an illness,” Schefter reported.

While no further details have come out regarding Jackson’s illness, it doesn’t appear to be too serious as of this moment.

With training camp just beginning this week, there’s no point in rushing Jackson back onto the field and this is more than likely just a precautionary move to ensure he’s ready to go later in the week.

For now, it’s best to monitor the situation and hopefully he’ll be back with the team sooner rather than later.
