The NBA’s All-Star Game used to be something the fans and the players looked forward to.
The players cherished the opportunity to prove themselves against the creme of the crop, competing hard to prove they were even better than the rest.
Now, the players look forward to the break to restore their bodies, regroup, and get some rest.
Of course, they have every right to get some time off and get ready for the most crucial stretch of the season, but that has watered down the All-Star Game.
With that in mind, NBA legend Larry Bird urged the players to go hard during this game and play with intensity (Via Howard Beck).
“The one thing I’d like to see is them play hard tonight in the All-Star Game,” Bird said.

The All-Star Game has become a scoring matchup with no defense whatsoever, up to the point where the players always get a wide-open look at the rim.
Some players, such as Jimmy Butler, have even refused to partake in the event, and guys like Nikola Jokic, who is usually a dominant scorer, don’t even try when he’s on the court.
This was supposed to be a game featuring the best of the best, and while fans love high-scoring matchups and this game usually gives us some highlight dunks, it just doesn’t feel right anymore.
The NBA All-Star Weekend has lost a lot of it’s competitiveness, as stars don’t even suit up and partake in the events.
The league should look to address this situation in some sort of way, as the fans don’t like it one bit and usually complain on social media.
