In just a few months, Bronny James may be joining his father in the NBA.

However, if the latest mock draft from ESPN becomes a reality, this son of basketball royalty might wait a bit longer to play.

ESPN’s latest 2024 mock draft no longer has Bronny listed as a prospect, according to Lakers Daily and NBACentral.

Instead, James is predicted to be the 39th pick in the 2025 draft.

Up until a few weeks ago, Bronny was considered a sure pick in this summer’s draft.

He has been with USC since December as his season got off to a late start because of a health issue he suffered in the summer.

James has been producing 5.5 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game this year, playing about 20 minutes per night.

Some analysts assumed that he’d be taken as a late first-round player or perhaps slip to the second round.

However, it now seems like he might not even be on the board in this year’s draft and could wait until 2025 instead.

James was never going to be as good as his father, of course, but do his skills need a whole other year to develop?

Will this latest mock draft from ESPN give the young player and his family pause and make him reconsider his next moves?

The fact that James is no longer predicted to be picked this year and isn’t even a first-round prospect for next year says a lot and it truly could have an impact on the USC freshman.

The good news is that even if James does elect to hold off on entering the league this year, he’ll still probably play in the league with his father, who shows very few signs of slowing down at 39 years old.
