The Boston Celtics entered the NBA season as the odds-on favorites to win the NBA championship, even ahead of the reigning champions.
That hasn’t changed to this day.
If anything, their odds keep getting better.
So, now that they’ve officially punched their tickets to the biggest stage, the look-ahead lines show that they would be big favorites against either of their potential opponents.
As shown by the Action Network on Twitter, they currently have -230 odds to beat the Minnesota Timberwolves, and things aren’t very different against the Dallas Mavericks (-225).

The Mavericks are up 3-0 on the Timberwolves and almost a lock to make it to the next stage, and while they’ve been on a tear throughout the course of the entire playoffs, oddsmakers still like the Celtics’ chances.
Boston has had an easy path to the NBA Finals.
They took care of business in five games against the Jimmy Butler-less Miami Heat and then did the same vs. a Cleveland Cavaliers team missing Jarrett Allen and later Donovan Mitchell.
Then, they swept the Indiana Pacers, who were missing Tyrese Haliburton in the final two games.
The Mavericks, on the other hand, got past the Los Angeles Clippers and the No. 1-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder before meeting with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Now, all the rest they got en route to this impressive 12-2 record — which includes going 6-0 on the road — could be a key factor in the final series of the season, and they’re just four wins away from raising their league-best 18th championship banner.
