The Minnesota Vikings surprised many of their fans during the offseason by releasing Dalvin Cook.

Cook rushed for 1,173 yards last season, helping support the Vikings offense with 10 touchdowns as well.

While he proved that there’s still plenty left in the tank, the Vikings followed the NFL’s recent trend by letting go of a talented running back.

Cook is now a free agent and has been linked to a few teams already.

One of those teams is the New England Patriots, who, according to DraftKings Sportsbook via PFF Bet, have the best odds to land him.

If nothing changes, and Cook doesn’t join the team, Rhamondre Stevenson is currently slated to lead the team in carries.

Pierre Strong Jr. and J.J. Taylor are also in line to receive some touches, giving the Patriots a three-headed backfield.

Stevenson was tasked with the bulk of the Patriots’ carries last year, even though Damien Harris was still on the team.

However, if Cook were to enter the mix, it could lead to a more balanced rushing attack, especially given his years of NFL experience.

If the team is considering adding Cook, they would likely divide the work between him and Stevenson, similar to what the Cleveland Browns did with Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt.

Many around the league believe that Bill Belichick is potentially on the hot seat this season, especially if the Patriots miss the playoffs.

He may do whatever it takes to keep himself around, even if it means adding a veteran back like Cook to boost their offense.
