LeBron James isn’t only one of the most accomplished players in NBA history; he’s also one of the wealthiest athletes of all time.
From Nike to Beats by Dre and countless endorsements, the Los Angeles Lakers superstar’s net worth goes over $1 billion, according to Forbes.
However, it seems like he’s not looking forward to spending any of that hard-earned money on trivial things, such as a blue checkmark on Twitter.
Recently, the four-time NBA champion expressed his rejection of the platform’s new policy to charge for verified accounts, stating that he’s just not going to pay the money Elon Musk is asking for it.
Welp guess my blue will be gone soon cause if you know me I ain’t paying the 5.

Needless to say, that led to countless hilarious reactions on social media, especially given the fact that the blue checkmark is actually worth $8 nowadays.
Notably, this isn’t the first time that James has shown his reluctance to spend.
Years ago, he admitted that he’s actually the cheapest guy you’ll know in the league, stating that he doesn’t pay for ad-free Pandora, mobile apps, or even data roaming.
Well, James didn’t exactly come from a wealthy family, so it’s normal to see that he’s used to saving and making the most of every dime he gets.
But he could certainly afford the checkmark without a second thought.
He’ll even save up half if he pays one year up front!
Regardless, James joins other prominent voices fighting back against this new policy.
