The NBA community has lost one of it’s most prominent figures.

The legendary Jerry West, The Logo, Mr. Clutch, has passed away this morning at the age of 86.

Considered to be one of the greatest shooting guards of all time and one of the greatest players in Los Angeles Lakers history, West stayed close to the game throughout his entire life.

With that in mind, Lakers star LeBron James took to Twitter to react to his passing, sending love and prayers to his family and claiming that he would miss the conversations they used to have.

Will truly miss our convos my dear friend! My thoughts and prayers goes out to your wonderful family! Forever love Jerry! Rest in Paradise my guy!

Jerry West is one of the main reasons why the game is what it is today, not only for paving the way for other players who came after him but also for the decisions he made as an executive.

West built the Showtime Lakers.

Then, he traded for Kobe Bryant, signed Shaquille O’Neal, and hired Phil Jackson to coach the team even though he was about to leave.

In Memphis, he drafted Pau Gasol and hired Hubie Brown to build and develop the culture within an ever-struggling and young franchise.

He also got Kawhi Leonard and Paul George to the Los Angeles Clippers.

West was a class act and a basketball genius, and the entire hoops community will miss him, but his legacy in this league will live on until the end of time.
