Lionel Messi’s first MLS game was obviously a huge deal for soccer fans all over the world but it was also exciting for one particular NBA superstar.

On Friday night, LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers was spotted in Miami as Messi played his very first game as a member of Inter Miami.

James was spotted before the game, via video from ClayWPLG per NBACentral.

James, who looked in full-on vacation mode with a drink in hand, was ready to root on his friend.

Even though Messi wasn’t a starting player on Friday night, the entire sports world was paying close attention to him and his team in their game against Cruz Azul.

Just the fact that Messi was finally playing drew out James and many other stars, such as David Beckham, Serena Williams, and others.

James, of course, has spent plenty of time in Miami.

From 2010 to 2014, James was the main star of the Miami Heat and led them to two championship victories.

Even though his time in Florida has come to an end, he is still considered an icon of the franchise.

James was once the most famous man in Miami but it seems that Messi has taken that title.

Before the game started, James met up with Messi and gave him a firm hug.

He was also spotted alongside the Beckhams and with Williams too.

James is enjoying his time off during the summer.

He has been spotted on vacation and resting his body before the upcoming season.

It’ll be his 21st in the league and, as always, a lot is riding on it.

His Lakers have seemingly turned a corner.

They have put together a strong squad, reaching the Western Conference Finals just months ago.

But James and his squad are now looking to build on that success as his retirement draws nearer.

That means he needs all the rest he can get.
