LeBron James has managed to defy Father Time and will be expected to lead the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2023-24 NBA season.
James is entering Year 21 of his illustrious career and showed in the preseason that he’s still got the speed, power, and athleticism to hang with the best of the best in the NBA.
The Lakers are hoping James is fully past his foot injury as they’ll need him healthy if they hope to capture their 18th championship.
The Western Conference is as daunting as ever, but Los Angeles has one of the most talented rosters in the league.
However, everything will still depend on James and his level of play despite him turning 39 later in the year.
When discussing what his goals are for this year, James said he’s focused on continuing to be as great as he possibly can be via Jovan Buha of The Athletic.
“I just think for one, it’s just my motivation to continue to be as great as I can be and solidify what I want to do in my career and still seeing that Larry O’Brien trophy in my mind on a daily basis. So that’s one of the best four moments of my career, being able to hoist up that trophy. So, that motivation alone,” James said.

What James is doing at this stage of his career is unprecedented as most players his age would be playing minimal roles.
However, James is a true one-of-one athlete who’s proven that players nowadays can extend their careers and be productive.
With only so many years left in his career, James is highly motivated to try and win a fifth ring and it’ll be exciting to see him chase after it.
