The fact that LeBron James is still in the NBA is amazing on its own, and to watch him put up the numbers he puts up at almost 40 years old is just ridiculous.
We’ve seen multiple players stay in the league for long, but we’ve never seen someone average 25 points per game at this age.
And while he’s clearly close to the end of his career, it just seems like he could play for another eight years or so if he chose to have a Vince Carter-like role, coming off the bench and whatnot.
Of course, that’s not going to be the case for a player like LeBron James, but the simple fact that he could do that is mind-boggling.
Notably, James fulfilled almost every expectation people had of him when he was just a high school kid.
In the latest episode of HBO’s The Shop, he revealed that he knew he could be special at 17 years old.
“I couldn’t even believe some of the sh*t that I was doing.” @KingJames recalls being only 17 when he realized he was destined for greatness. Full convo drops this Thursday on our YouTube! pic.twitter.com/FCmfFw4nyN

He was in junior high and claimed that he was in awe of some of the things he was doing.
That’s when he stopped thinking about, say, Michael Jordan or Penny Hardaway as just role models or icons, stating that he could be as good as them or even better if he put in the work.
It’s been more than two decades since that day, and James is still going strong.
And whether you may or may not feel like he’s the greatest to ever do it, no one can take anything away from him.
