On Tuesday, the Los Angeles Lakers went head-to-head against the New Orleans Pelicans in the first game of the Play-In Tournament, with a trip to the first round of the NBA playoffs on the line.

Although the Lakers had just beaten the Pelicans a couple of days earlier in blowout fashion, these two teams were thought to be evenly matched and talented enough to get the win on Tuesday night in New Orleans.

However, in the end, despite a hard-fought battle by both teams, the Lakers were able to advance, and now LeBron James and company will face off against the defending NBA champion Denver Nuggets in the first round of the postseason, which will get underway this weekend in the Mile High City.

After the game, James let it be known that he feels great and is ready to get the first round started against the Nuggets, via the NBA’s Twitter account.

“I feel great,” James said. “Punched that ticket to the postseason!”

When these two Western Conference heavyweights go toe-to-toe in Game 1 on Saturday at Ball Arena in Denver, it will be a rematch of the Western Conference Finals, where Nikola Jokic and company crushed the Lakers in four games.

This time around, the Lakers will try to give Jokic’s squad more of a run for their money while hoping to take down the defending champs in what would be the biggest upset of the playoffs this year.

Although Denver is the overwhelming favorite, the Lakers can’t be counted out after their impressive run to the Western Conference Finals last year.
