Just like every other major sports league, the NBA is caught in the analytics era.
There are more and more advanced metrics to measure a player’s impact on the game, up to the point where it’s starting to become difficult to keep up.
RAPTOR, LEBRON, VORP, Offensive Rating, PER, and whatnot help analysts, fans, and even players get a clearer picture of what truly went down on the court, more so than regular stats.

LeBron agreed, and he also claimed that hockey assists could help the fans have a better understanding of a player’s impact.
Of course, screen assists aren’t fancy by any means, and chances are, the average fan won’t be impressed by that stat whatsoever.

So, flashy stat or not, the league should definitely consider this proposal.
