For years, NBA fans have joked about LeBron James being an assistant GM for his teams.

All teams involving LeBron are usually the most active ahead of the trade deadline, and the ‘LeBron needs more help’ narrative has been around every single year in the league since he was drafted.

There have been countless jokes, memes, and even stories about James getting to choose who gets moved and who doesn’t.

Nonetheless, James has always denied those accusations, and he won’t change his tactics at this point in his career.

When asked about the moves the Lakers should make before the trade deadline, the four-time NBA champion claimed that he ‘doesn’t play fantasy basketball’ and vowed to continue leaving it all on the court with his current group of players (via Dave McMenamin).

Notably, some have criticized James for making several passive-aggressive comments about his rosters throughout the course of the years.

Even last season, he openly admitted to being disappointed by the fact that the Lakers failed to trade for Kyrie Irving, even though he was still teammates with Westbrook.

The Lakers need to shake things up and find a group of players who mesh better together and can actually stay healthy.

Then again, it’ll be easier said than done, as they don’t have any appealing trade assets either.
