Nick Bosa was recently signed to a five-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers, ending his holdout.
This deal made Bosa the highest-paid defender in NFL history, as he is due $34 million per season.
When Bosa’s contract was announced, several current and former players publically congratulated him on this accomplishment.
For a moment, this amount of money made J.J. Watt consider coming back to the league as he shared in a recent tweet.
Just getting a chance to sit down and look at the breakdown of Bosa’s new (very well-deserved) contract.
I have a little more digging to do, but I’m starting to feel comfortable saying that I would consider un-retiring if offered a similar contract.
Maybe.

Watt indicated that if he received a similar contract, he would return to the NFL for one more year.
While some fans believed him, Watt quickly pointed out that his post was satirical and that he wasn’t coming back to the league.
not enough people are understanding the joke here and it’s concerning…

Watt’s potential NFL return may have been fun for a moment, but he seems content with his current employment status.
The Bosa and Watt families have both had multiple sons in the NFL at the same time lately, a unique bond that has joined them together.
Bosa can now return to the 49ers with his status as one of the league’s top defenders solidified with this new contract.
The reigning Defensive Player of the Year will now return to his team in hopes of dominating similarly to how he did in 2022.
Last season, Bosa racked up 51 total tackles and 18.5 sacks.
If he can achieve similar numbers, the 49ers will almost certainly regain their status as one of the NFC’s top teams in their quest to make it back to the NFC Championship.
Does this team have what it takes to get there?
