LeSean McCoy Makes Super Bowl Claim About Eagles

In some ways, the Philadelphia Eagles haven’t been playing that well to start the 2023 NFL season.

But they’re 2-0 after getting past the Minnesota Vikings, 34-28, on Thursday, and the outlook seems satisfactory right now for them.

It wasn’t a very well-played game, as Philly got out to a 27-7 lead early in the third quarter, only to allow the Vikings to make things interesting late.

But LeSean McCoy, a former star running back for Philly, says they’re looking like Super Bowl contenders because they’re finding different ways to win even though they haven’t been playing up to their potential.

While quarterback Jalen Hurts completed an impressive 18 of 23 passes, it was the Eagles’ running game that led the way on offense, as new starter D’Andre Swift tallied 175 yards and one touchdown on 28 carries.

In the air, wide receiver DeVonta Smith contributed 131 yards and a touchdown.

Defensively, there is reason for concern — the Eagles allowed Minnesota quarterback Kirk Cousins to connect on four touchdown passes and gave up 159 yards to stud wideout Justin Jefferson, plus another 72 yards to rookie wideout Jordan Addison.

Last season, Philly was tops in passing yards allowed and second in total yards given up.

Their schedule will be very manageable for a while, as they will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Washington Commanders, Los Angeles Rams, and the Aaron Rodgers-less New York Jets over the next four weeks.

By mid-October, the Eagles could very well be 6-0 and looking like they’re on their way to winning the Super Bowl after blowing a 10-point lead and losing to the Kansas City Chiefs there last season.
