After being tired of a revolving door at the quarterback position, the Cleveland Browns made the bold move to make a trade with the Houston Texans for star quarterback Deshaun Watson and then sign him to an enormous contract, putting all their faith in him to lead this franchise for years to come.
Two years into the Watson era in Cleveland, the Browns likely regret making the deal to bring in the three-time Pro Bowler as he has played in only 12 games since joining the team, which obviously isn’t ideal for a team that may believe their championship window is open.
Even without Watson for the majority of the 2023 campaign, the Browns were able to rally around Joe Flacco while riding their defense to make it to the NFL playoffs but unfortunately fell short to a better-than-expected Houston Texans team in the first round.
With the Browns making a huge commitment to Watson in hopes that he’s the right man for the job under center, the pressure will be on during the 2024 NFL season for the veteran quarterback to prove his worth, which former NFL star LeSean McCoy of FOX Sports explained on “Speak.”

If Watson can’t come through during the 2024 campaign, Cleveland may have to do something drastic in order to address the quarterback position because they can continue falling short because they can’t depend on their starting quarterback.
It’ll be interesting to see if Watson can bounce back next season and whether it will result in the Browns becoming a legitimate Super Bowl title contender in the AFC.
