During the NFL offseason, teams across the league can submit a request for a rule change, which is then reviewed by the league.
One of the most discussed potential rule changes was the play known as the ‘tush push,’ largely due to the Philadelphia Eagles’ success with the play.
Recently, Dan Campbell, the head coach of the Detroit Lions, commented on why he has no problem with the play.
“I’m all good with it,” Campbell told the Detroit Free Press. “I’ve got no problem, man. Because here’s why, man. I think of it defensively, man, you’ve got to have a plan to stop it. And that’s what fires me up. We’re going to have a plan to stop it.”
During the 2022 NFL season, the Eagles successfully converted this play nearly 90 percent of the time.
While many teams across the league had a difficult time stopping this play, Campbell believes that his team has a solution.
The Lions’ defense ranked near the bottom of the league in 2022 in terms of points allowed per game.
However, their offense was one of the league’s best.

Ultimately, it appears that the Lions will enter the 2023 season with plans to stop the quarterback sneak, while also converting more of their own on the offensive side of the ball.
The Lions turned into one of the most-discussed teams of 2022, which was partly driven by Campbell’s antics.
Had the Seattle Seahawks lost their last game of the season, the Lions would have snuck into the playoffs.
