The Detroit Lions are fresh off an NFC North title and an appearance in the NFC Championship game for just the second time in franchise history, so expectations are now even higher since the team got a whiff of the Super Bowl for the first time in decades.

Training camp is underway as the Lions look to prove last season wasn’t a fluke, and the team is reportedly working out a linebacker who can potentially add depth to this defense.

KPRC2’s Aaron Wilson reported that the Lions are working out linebacker Storey Jackson today, who last appeared on an NFL roster with the Cleveland Browns before being cut in May of 2023.

Jackson was signed as an undrafted free agent out of Liberty in 2022 by the Dallas Cowboys and was cut during the final round of roster cuts before the season began.

He then signed with the Browns toward the end of the 2022 season and was elevated from the practice squad to make his NFL debut against the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he played 15 snaps on defense.

He played last season with the Arlington Renegades of the UFL and recorded 23 tackles, and at 26 years old, he will now be attempting to make a return to the NFL.

Linebacker is not one of Detroit’s deepest positions, but it does have three consistently reliable starters in Jack Campbell, Alex Anzalone, and Derrick Barnes.

Jackson could be simply a training camp depth chart option, but you never know with these types of signings.

Best of luck to Storey Jackson in his attempt to get back in the NFL.
