Every year around this time, with the start of the NFL regular season approaching, veteran players around the league who have been around for a long time debate whether they want to give it one more shot and continue to play or call it a career and walk off into the sunset.
A lot of the time, this decision can be forced upon veterans because they’ve been told they won’t make the final roster, are pondering their future because of an injury, or haven’t been able to find a new team as a free agent, putting their career in limbo.
It appears that veteran linebacker Markus Golden, who played for the Pittsburgh Steelers last season and had stints with the Arizona Cardinals and New York Giants, has made the decision to retire, taking to his Instagram account to break the news, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Although Golden never made the Pro Bowl or won a Super Bowl title, he carved out an impressive NFL career, playing nine seasons, with his most significant impact being with the Cardinals during two separate stints in Arizona.
The former second-round draft pick out of Missouri racked up 51.0 sacks, 220 solo tackles and 11 forced fumbles in 127 games played.
Golden’s best sack total for a season came in 2016 with the Cardinals with 12.5, and he had 11.0 for them as recently as the 2021 season.
