Lonzo Ball of the Chicago Bulls hasn’t played in the NBA for two seasons now due to a very serious knee injury that has hopefully been resolved.
This absence has been the biggest roadblock in his career, but there have been a few others since he was drafted in 2017.
That’s a shame because Ball’s talent is unquestionable.
In fact, the Bulls star believes that there was a time when he was the best point guard in the entire league.
Speaking on “The WAE Show,” per ClutchPoints, Ball said:
“Like every time I catch my stride, something goes wrong. … Either I get hurt or that one year I was in New Orleans… That month before COVID, if you was to ask me, I think I’m the best point guard in the league.”

Ball put up 11.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 7 assists per game in the 2019-20 season.
He was indeed looking like one of the best point guards in the league before COVID came, sidelined the entire NBA, and threw the world into disarray.
This was during his time with the New Orleans Pelicans in the season after being traded from the Los Angeles Lakers.
It looked like Ball had found a suitable new home for himself but he would only be in New Orleans for one more full season before moving to the Chicago Bulls.
Once again, it looked like he found a new team that fit him well.
And, once again, he was thrown off course by something out of his control.
The knee injury he suffered in 2021-22 was massively detrimental to his career and he hasn’t been on the court since January of 2022.
Now, he is finally set to return but will he look like his usual self or will he be missing some of the speed and spark he’s known for?
Will people call him one of the best point guards in the NBA again?
