The Miami Marlins added a key piece this winter when they picked up Luis Arraez from the Minnesota Twins in exchange for right-hander Pablo Lopez.
Arraez was coming off of a spectacular season with the Twins in which he hit for a .316 average and earned an American League batting title.
This season, Arraez is on pace to have an even better finish.
After Wednesday night’s game, Arraez had a batting average of .403.
That is the best average of anybody in baseball, and it has also earned him a place at the top of the most recent hitter power rankings list via MLB.com.

The most interesting part about all of this is the fact that Arraez has only hit one home run this season.
Yet his average ranks at the top throughout the league.
He also has driven in 30 runs, is reaching base at a .452 clip, slugging .495, and even has an OPS of .947 on the season.
Needless to say, Arraez has picked up right where he left off a season ago.
Ronald Acuna Jr., Freddie Freeman, Yordan Alvarez, and Yandy Diaz round out the top-5 portion of the list, followed by Bo Bichette, J.D. Martinez, Mookie Betts, Marcus Semien, and Pete Alonso.
For his career, Arraez has just 15 home runs, yet he has continued to be a threat at the plate in his first season with the Marlins, despite not having much power.
The deal appears to have worked out just fine for the Marlins, who now have won six in a row.
