All eyes are currently on the Dallas Mavericks and Luka Doncic.
Things are not looking good for the team right now and they hold a rough 37-42 record.
They are very close to missing out on the playoffs entirely, which would be seen as a massive collapse by the team that reached the Western Conference Finals last year.
Things have gotten so bad that there have been rumors of the front office just shutting down both Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, benching them for the last few games of the season because all hope is lost.
NBA writer Callie Caplan caught up with Doncic on Tuesday during a post-practice interview session.
Doncic was precise when asked if he was going to be shut down: “No,” he said.
He was also asked how much the Mavs miss former teammate Jalen Brunson, who moved to the New York Knicks in the last offseason.
With a pause and a smile, Doncic responded: “A lot.”
Snippers from Luka Doncic’s post-practice interview:
Any consideration given to shutting down for the season?
“No.”
He said the team chemistry this season hasn’t matched last year’s West finals squad. How much Mavs miss Brunson?
Long pause, smile: “A lot.”

So it sounds like Doncic is going to stick it out and hope that the Mavericks are somehow able to get back on track and find a way into the playoffs.
The team has talent but they have looked lost recently.
There is hardly any time for the team to turn that around.
There is no doubt that the Mavericks are really missing Brunson right now.
For the 2022-23 season, he has averaged 24 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 6.2 assists.
He has become a huge part of the Knicks’ successful season and numerous Mavericks fans are bemoaning the fact that their team let him get away.
