Dynamic superstar duos in the NBA have become a thing again, with teams around the league trying to find the best pairing of players to lead their franchises.

Last season, the Dallas Mavericks gave it their best shot, with Mark Cuban and company pulling the trigger on the blockbuster trade with the Brooklyn Nets to acquire superstar guard Kyrie Irving to play alongside Luka Doncic for the foreseeable future.

So far, the superstar duo of Doncic and Irving hasn’t worked out as planned, as these two incredibly talented players were unable to lead the Mavericks back to the NBA playoffs.

Fortunately, Irving was willing to give this partnership with Doncic another shot, as he signed a long-term deal with the Mavericks during the NBA offseason.

With Irving in the fold for a few more years, Doncic opened up about playing with the one-time NBA champion and how he thinks this duo will be much better next season with more time on the floor, according to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon via Hoops On X.

Luka Doncic on his partnership with Kyrie Irving:

“It takes time to do chemistry, especially on the court, so we didn’t have the whole training camp and then I mean the preseason too. So I think it’s going to be way better.”

If Doncic and Irving can get on the same page and learn how to play to one another’s strengths, the Mavericks could become a legitimate force to be reckoned with in the Western Conference once again.

Obviously, a lot of the team’s success will depend on its supporting cast, which isn’t all that great on paper, but Dallas has the potential to be a playoff contender and potentially a title contender in the years to come, with Irving and Doncic leading the way.
