The Dallas Mavericks managed to live for another day, putting together a major late-game comeback to take down the Houston Rockets and advance to the In-Season Tournament quarterfinals.

Luka Doncic was as good as usual, putting on a show with 41 points, nine rebounds, nine assists, two steals, and three 3-pointers on 51.7% from the floor.

Nonetheless, he also had plenty of help from Kyrie Irving, who took over late in the game and made some breathtaking plays down the stretch to secure the win.

That’s why Doncic tipped his hat to Irving and praised him for all the “insane” layups and big-time shots he knocked down, lauding him for being such a positive leader for the team this season (via Noah Weber).

Luka Doncic on Kyrie Irving:

“Yeah, he can go off [at] anytime. There were a couple of insane layups, which isn’t insane for us because we see it all the time. But his play has been amazing, and his leadership has been amazing. We are just happy to have him on our team.”#MFFL

Irving finished the game with 27 points, two boards, five dimes, one steal, one block, two 3-pointers, and some acrobatic plays.

His scoring prowess has never been in doubt, even though the early returns of his partnership with Doncic weren’t exactly encouraging.

This team is fun to watch and has one of the best offenses in the league, and it wouldn’t be shocking to see them go the distance in the In-Season Tournament, granted that it’s a win-or-go-home scenario.

They might still need to add more defense to their roster if they want to thrive in the postseason as well.

But for now, it’s safe to say that they’re proving their doubters wrong with their impressive offense.
