The Dallas Mavericks struck gold with Luka Doncic.

He still has a long way to go, but he could end up being the greatest player in franchise history.

As a matter of fact, he’s just 29 points away from breaking Mark Aguirre’s record for most points scored in a single season for them (2,330) (Via Landon Thomas).

He’s currently averaging a league-best 33.9 points per game this season, so it shouldn’t be much of a problem for him.

Also, with the Mavs having four games left in the regular season, this should be a given at this point.

Doncic is one of the most talented and dominant offensive players this game has ever seen.

Dirk Nowitzki owns most of the Mavericks’ records, but it’s just a matter of time before the young star takes them down.

Needless to say, Nowitzki can still brag about being the only superstar who has led this team to the NBA Finals and carried them to an NBA championship, so his legacy in Mavericks history is still unmatched.

Even so, Jason Kidd’s team is playing a great brand of basketball right now, being one of the best teams in the league since the trade deadline, and finally surrounding their talented backcourt with some legitimate stoppers.

Doncic’s on-court chemistry with Kyrie Irving is off the charts, and while they’re not the strongest contender in the Western Conference by any means, they’re the last duo you want to come across in a seven-game series, regardless of how good a defense you have.
