Naz Reid has been one of the best sixth men of the year in 2023-24 and the Dallas Mavericks learned that the hard way on Thursday night.

Reid erupted with 27 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists and helped his Minnesota Timberwolves take down Luka Doncic and the Mavericks.

After the game, Doncic spoke about Reid and his skills, calling him the “X-factor” that led Minnesota to victory.

“He’s an amazing player and he hurt us today. He’s been hooping,” Doncic said, according to a video from Ballislife.

As pointed out, Reid has been averaging 18.4 points, 7 rebounds, and 2.3 three-pointers a game in December, but his entire season has been spectacular.

He has averaged 13.4 points and 4.6 rebounds per game while shooting 50% from the field.

When many people talk about the Timberwolves, they think of Karl-Anthony Towns, Rudy Gobert, and Anthony Edwards.

And while those three are obviously very important to Minnesota, Reid is proof that the team is much deeper than that.

He’s not the only one who is doing great work this season: Mike Conley, Jaden McDaniels, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, and others are helping the team hold onto the number one spot in the West.

Reid was the top scorer for his team on Thursday and now the team’s record is a strong 18-5, which has them 2.5 games ahead of the second-seed Denver Nuggets.

The Timberwolves have been dominant from the very start of the season and have yet to lose two games in a row.

Because of the team’s deep roster and players like Reid, they are looking better than they have in years.

They have a tough stretch of games in the week ahead, squaring off against the Indiana Pacers, Miami Heat, Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Lakers, and Sacramento Kings.

Will any of those teams be able to minimize Minnesota’s X-factor?
