Once again, the Dallas Mavericks are facing elimination, this time in Game 5 of the NBA Finals, which will tip off at 8:30 p.m. Eastern time on Monday evening.

They were able to stay alive for at least one more contest by trouncing the Boston Celtics in Game 4 by 38 points, but now they will have to earn a win on the Celtics’ home court, with their fans anticipating a victory celebration.

It will likely take a great performance from Luka Doncic for Dallas to win again, and he said he has played in environments that have been at least as loud as TD Garden in Boston.

He talked about his team’s mindset heading into Game 5, per NBA TV.

“It’s gonna take everything from us. All the little things, all the details, it’s gonna take everything to win this series.”

Doncic scored 29 points in Game 4 on Friday, and while he was a bit inefficient (he missed all eight of his 3-point attempts), he got more help than he did in prior games in this series.

Kyrie Irving scored 21 points on 10-of-18 shooting, and three Mavs bench players — Dereck Lively II, Dante Exum and Tim Hardaway Jr. — got into double figures in scoring.

Beating Boston in Boston in an elimination game will be a tall task for Doncic and crew, but if they pull it off, the complexion of this series will likely change.

All season long, the Celtics have occasionally lost games to teams they should’ve beaten, and that narrative will be pushed back to the forefront if Dallas ends up victorious on Monday.

Should Dallas win Game 5, they will head home for Game 6, which will take place on Thursday.
