For most of its history, the NBA has been American-centric, with overseas prospects often getting overlooked.

They were deemed soft, slow, and non-athletic for years.

Now, we’re seeing more and more international players taking the league by storm and proving that narrative to be wrong.

Even the last six MVPs have all been foreign players, and that trend might not change any time soon.

However, contrary to what most people think, not all foreign players grew up idolizing the NBA or being diehard NBA fans.

That was on full display when the media asked Luka Doncic his thoughts and how he felt about being in the NBA Finals after watching the Finals as a kid, to which he responded that he didn’t watch them because they were at 4 a.m. and he had school the next day (via NBA Memes).

Interviewer: “Growing up watching the NBA Finals late at night, what does it mean to you?”

Luka Doncic: “I didn’t watch cause it was 4 in the morning and I had school the next day”

That’s the reality most European NBA fans have to deal with, and now, this guy is arguably either the best or second-best player in the world.

They either have to stay up late, wake up early, or just watch re-runs or highlights to get a hold of NBA action.

Still, with many more European players taking the league by storm as the years go by, it wouldn’t be shocking to see them tweak the schedule a little bit at some point in the future.

The NBA has become more global than ever, and it being the money-making machine it is, it shouldn’t take long before they make some adjustments to reach even more audiences and different corners of Earth.
