The Dallas Mavericks weren’t at their best on Tuesday night.

Jason Kidd’s team struggled against the Oklahoma City Thunder’s athletic, switch-heavy defense, and their star backcourt wasn’t efficient from the floor at all.

This was a particularly rough game for Luka Doncic, who had 19 points on as many shots, went 1-for-8 from downtown, and turned the ball over five times.

However, when asked about his poor shooting in the lopsided loss, he didn’t want to read too much into it (via ClutchPoints).

“Who cares, we lost, man. We just gotta move onto the next one. I gotta be better, we gotta be better,” Doncic said.

Doncic claimed that it didn’t matter how poorly he shot from the floor; the only thing that mattered was that they lost, and they had to move on to the next one.

Well, that’s a valid point, and teams should always take a ‘one game at a time’ approach in the postseason.

Then again, it does matter.

His team doesn’t lose if he doesn’t shoot that poorly, and they need to dig deep into the tape and figure out what went wrong.

Of course, this series is far from over, and the Mavericks definitely have more than enough resources to come back from this.

They have two of the most talented scorers in NBA history, and enough bruisers and stoppers around them to make things difficult for the best team in the Western Conference.

Still, they simply cannot afford to fall to 0-2 against this kind of team.
