After a successful career on the college level at the University of Alabama under legendary head coach Nick Saban, quarterback Mac Jones had a chance to be successful on the NFL level under another legendary head coach in Bill Belichick.

Jones’ NFL career got off to a decent start as he earned Pro Bowl honors in his rookie season with the New England Patriots, and the future looked bright for him as he seemed to be the right man for the job under center.

Unfortunately, that was the peak of Jones’ career up to this point, as he was never able to reclaim that Pro Bowl form and went on to struggle for the next two seasons.

Ultimately, Jones was benched in favor of Bailey Zappe in New England, as it became clear that he couldn’t get back to playing competitive football.

Over the weekend, Jones was traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars, and it appears that his former teammate Zappe was a fan of the move, as he liked an NFL post on Instagram sharing the news, via Dov Kleiman.

With Jones and Zappe going back and forth as the starting quarterback in New England, there’s a chance there was no love lost between the two, as they both had the desire to prove their worth to the team but were never able to do so.

Now Jones gets to start fresh in Jacksonville as the backup to Trevor Lawrence, which might be the ideal situation for the time being, as he couldn’t cut it as a starter.
