Magic Johnson was one of the best players to ever suit up for the Los Angeles Lakers and he remains a huge supporter of the team, through thick and thin.

But he had nothing but harsh criticism of his former team on Wednesday night after they lost to the Memphis Grizzlies in Game 2 of the opening round of the playoffs.

“The Lakers have no one to blame but themselves,” Johnson said on Twitter.

“They didn’t come ready to play, that’s why they lost 101-93 to an undermanned Memphis team,” he added.

Johnson stated the obvious with that tweet and it’s what many others were saying on Thursday morning.

When the Lakers stole a road win in Game 1, many people felt that they could score another victory in the subsequent game by playing with the same intensity, versatility, and deep roster.

Their chances of success seemed to increase when it was announced that Ja Morant would sit out of the second game due to a hand injury.

Maybe the Lakers were tired or underestimating the Grizzlies because of Morant’s absence.

Whatever the reason, they didn’t play with ferocity or much drive on Wednesday night.

Some people feel they gave up a huge opportunity because Morant may be back for Game 3 and that would make the Grizzlies much harder to defeat.

The good news for LA is that they are aware of what went wrong and they are also coming back home to LA for the next game.

Their hometown crowd could have a big influence on the game.

The last time the Lakers were really promising in the playoffs was during the COVID season and of course, the stadium was empty during that run.

They will be ready to roar at Crypto.com Arena.
