The Orlando Magic haven’t been relevant since Dwight Howard was the face of the franchise because the team hasn’t been able to rebuild properly since trading the three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year to the Los Angeles Lakers in 2012.

Although it has been a struggle for the Magic over the past decade, to say the least, the franchise might be on the cusp of something special with an assortment of promising young players that could turn the corner in the very near future.

Last season, the team finished the year with a record of 34-48, and it seemed like more of the same from the struggling franchise, but the team may finally have a star to build around in Paolo Banchero, who easily won NBA Rookie of the Year last season.

Along with Banchero, Franz Wagner might be turning into a star, while Markelle Fultz is coming off the best season of his career in the NBA.

Fultz definitely seems anxious to get back to work as he responded to the team’s tweet on Saturday with the following.

“Can’t wait for this year” he posted.

During the 2022-23 NBA season, Fultz played in 60 games and averaged a career-high 14.0 points, 5.7 assists and 3.9 rebounds per game, shooting 51.4% from the floor and 31% from beyond the arch.

Although no one is expecting the Magic to make a lot of noise in the Eastern Conference next season, it’s not beyond the realm of possibility that they flirt with making the Play-In Tournament or make it to the NBA playoffs as one of the lower seeds in the conference.
