The New York Giants just survived a major scare.
According to multiple reports, star rookie WR Malik Nabers suffered an ankle injury during Sunday’s practice.
However, contrary to what people thought, it’s not believed to be serious.
Talking to the media, the LSU star stated that the injury wasn’t as bad as it initially seemed (via Pat Leonard).
Malik Nabers says he thought his injury was worse when it happened than it ended up being. Says he will be ready for Week 1, and his focus is now just being available. Says he will not need any support for the sprained left ankle when he comes back #Giants. Encouraging… pic.twitter.com/Vn5gdlQMz5

Nabers added that he would be available for Week 1, but more than that, he won’t even need any sort of support on the ankle at all.
HC Brian Daboll said something similar.
The third-year coach stated that his star wide receiver tested the ankle and the injury wasn’t serious at all.
The Giants will square off with the Houston Texans on the road for a Saturday afternoon preseason contest, and chances are that they won’t have Nabers out there at all, which makes sense, as there’s no reason to put him in harm’s way or risk any further injury.
However, they did get some bad news regarding another rookie.
Fifth-round RB Tyrone Tracy Jr. had to be carted off the field after suffering an injury during a kickoff drill.
Tracy was expected to have a prominent role on special teams, and he looked quite sharp in his preseason debut vs. the Detroit Lions.
The Giants will look to keep everybody safe and sound ahead of a crucial season, so don’t be shocked if Nabers doesn’t suit up again until Week 1.
