The New York Giants offense is set to look much different this season after seeing superstar running back Saquon Barkley sign with the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason, a move that necessitated a change in philosophy toward a more pass-heavy approach.

A big part of that shift in ideology involves rookie No. 6 overall pick Malik Nabers immediately becoming the focal point of the offense, and that plan took a bit of a hit Saturday morning during practice.

Giants beat writer Pat Leonard shared a photo from Giants practice that showed Nabers limping off the field after taking off his left shoe due to an apparent foot injury, though Leonard mentioned it’s unclear what exactly happened.

In a follow-up tweet, Leonard said “Nabers was reaching down and touching the top outside of his left foot. He is now sitting on the ground with his sock off being looked at by three members of the training staff.”

He later added that Nabers was “standing up and moving very slowly.”

This is the worst-case scenario for the Giants, who were already ravaged by injuries last season and can’t withstand another year with so many important offensive pieces on the shelf.

The team desperately needs to find out if Daniel Jones can be relied upon as the franchise quarterback after returning from a torn ACL suffered last season.

New York had a disastrous offensive line last season and a severe need to add high-end talent to its wide receiver room, and Nabers is projected to immediately be Jones’ top target.

Hopefully, this injury is nothing serious and the rookie can get back on the practice field soon.
