The San Antonio Spurs are heading into a new era of basketball for the storied franchise with a lot of optimism moving forward after being able to bring in French superstar Victor Wembanyama with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.
After winning the NBA Draft Lottery a few weeks ago, the stage was set for the five-time NBA champions to bring in Wembanyama and potentially start building another winning team under legendary head coach Gregg Popovich.
It seems as though Wembanyama isn’t wasting any time getting to know his new city, with Spurs royalty getting to meet the French phenom.
Shortly after getting drafted, Wembanyama took to Twitter with an epic picture of him with Spurs legends Tim Duncan, David Robinson, Sean Elliott, and Manu Ginobili.
Ginobili then quote tweeted Wembanyama poking fun at how small he looks among these giants.

As Wembanyama puts it, he couldn’t have better role models in San Antonio as he tries to build his legacy with the Spurs heading into his rookie campaign with the team.
Although it may take a few years for the Spurs to get back into the playoff picture and become a real threat in the Western Conference again, San Antonio is definitely on the right track with a legitimate superstar to build around for the foreseeable future.
The real question now will be when and how the Spurs will surround their new superstar with the talent needed to compete for an NBA title, as there is a lot of work to be done by Popovich and company moving forward.
