Marcus Stroman is one of three members of the Chicago Cubs that was selected to be a part of the National League All-Star roster in next week’s Midsummer Classic.
His teammates Justin Steele and Dansby Swanson also made it.
However, Stroman recently announced that he will not be pitching in the All-Star Game as he rests for the second half of the season.
Stroman commented on how hectic things have been since the World Baseball Classic back in March and how he has made every scheduled start.
The veteran right-hander says he’s looking forward to a bit of a break.
In the same interview, he vouched for Steele to be named the starter for the National League squad.
Jesse Rogers of ESPN posted the quotes from Stroman on Twitter.
Stroman: “It’s been a lot since the WBC coming into this year. I’ve made every start….Definitely looking forward to having a little bit of a break.”
Should Justin Steele start?
“I don’t think it should be a debate. I think he’s the clear cut starter for the NL.” https://t.co/EIzvgD34T8

While Stroman hopes to rest before the second half instead of pitch in the All-Star Game, he was adamant that he believed Steele deserved the start for the National League side.
The 32-year-old even said that he didn’t think it should be a debate, and that Steele should be the clear-cut favorite to draw the start for the NL.
The Cubs enter the final weekend of the first half with a record of 40-46 as they sit eight games behind the Cincinnati Reds for the top spot in the NL Central.
Stroman has had a fantastic season, as he owns a 9-6 record with an ERA of 2.96 in his 19 starts.
The veteran right-hander also has struck out 98 batters and owns an impressive WHIP of 1.109.
