The Seattle Mariners are heading into Wednesday afternoon’s game with a chance to sweep the slumping Chicago White Sox and win their ninth consecutive game.
They won their eighth straight game on Tuesday night as they beat the White Sox by a final score of 6-3.
In doing so, they made a little bit of history.
According to Sarah Langs of MLB.com, the Mariners are the first team since the 2017 Los Angeles Dodgers to have recorded multiple win streaks of eight games or more within a calendar month.

The Dodgers accomplished this feat in July of 2017.
Langs pointed out this interesting fact on Twitter.
Langs also notes that the Mariners are the first team since the 1980 Baltimore Orioles to have recorded two win streaks of eight or more games within the month of August or later.
This is some unique history the Mariners made last night in Chicago and it’s something they’ll have a chance to add to today.
The Mariners came into Wednesday’s series finale with the White Sox holding a record of 71-55 on the season.
They recently have overtaken the Toronto Blue Jays for the third and final Wild Card spot in the American League and are even back within striking distance in the AL West behind the Texas Rangers and defending World Series champion Houston Astros.
Seattle reached the postseason for the first time in over two decades last fall and seem to be pointed towards yet another playoff berth this coming October, especially if things continue to trend upwards.
