The Dallas Mavericks have an owner who is always looking to improve his team.

Mark Cuban is one of the most recognizable faces in the NBA and has done a good job building the Mavs into contenders.

He has never been afraid to make some major moves.

It started with trading for Luka Doncic on draft night in 2018.

He has become an NBA star and Cuban has been looking for the right pieces to put around him.

Cuban went on the “Pat Bev Podcast” to discuss how the Mavs desperately tried trading up for Tyrese Haliburton in the 2020 draft.

He said, “We did everything we could to trade up for Tyrese Haliburton,” via ClutchPoints.

Mark Cuban: “We did everything we could to trade up for Tyrese Haliburton… Rick [Carlisle] was our coach at the time. He goes to Indiana, what’s the first deal he does?”

Pat Beverley: “Him and Luka together would’ve been different!”

It is funny to see how Rick Carlisle immediately traded for Haliburton once he left the Mavs for the Pacers.

Sometimes when a coach loves a player they will do whatever to try and acquire them.

While the Mavs did not end up with Haliburton, that did not stop Cuban from continuing to look for a star to pair with Doncic.

Last season, the Mavs acquired disgruntled superstar Kyrie Irving from the Brooklyn Nets.

Irving agreed to a contract extension this offseason and he will be in Dallas for the foreseeable future.

It will be fun to watch a full season of Doncic and Irving.

Those two are good enough to lead Dallas to the playoffs.

With an owner like Cuban, the Mavericks will always be looking to improve.

It is fair to assume Cuban will continue looking for improvements to his team.
