This year’s Team USA is filled with many of the best NBA stars, including LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, Jayson Tatum, and others.
The roster gives America a much better chance of winning the gold medal but one NBA icon doesn’t think it’s right.
On Twitter, Mark Cuban of the Dallas Mavericks said he has always “been against NBA players playing in the Olympics.”
He then added that the NBA should put on its very own World Cup and “treat the Olympics like Soccer does. ”
The Olympics are a business. First and last.
I’ve always been against NBA players playing in the Olympics. We should put on our own World Cup and treat the Olympics like Soccer does. https://t.co/RrABlkNFtjhttps://t.co/vWiLnEAEh2https://t.co/Rtc5z2bKEt https://t.co/OwF4kH576K

Cuban linked to multiple blogs he has written about his views on the league, including his opinion that the Olympics shouldn’t have the biggest NBA players.
He was in favor of a proposed European Soccer rule that limited Olympic participation to players who were under the age of 21.
He feels that it’s not fair for the NBA to essentially loan its best players to the Olympics every four years, earning billions of dollars for the big games while getting nothing in return.
For Cuban, this is simply a business decision.
He prefers a rule that requires younger players, preferably those from college.
There was a time when the Olympics didn’t have NBA icons and were led by the best and the brightest from the collegiate scene but times changed long ago and now the largest stars of the league come together every four years.
It’s very unlikely that Cuban’s request will ever be taken seriously, especially if Team USA continues to win gold medals.
He believes the Olympics are handled like a business and he wants Team USA to make the best business decision moving forward.
