For months, the Chicago Bears knew who was going to be their starting quarterback in 2024.

They hadn’t even talked to Caleb Williams, yet they knew he was the obvious choice with the No. 1 pick.

That’s why it wasn’t much of a surprise to see them choosing him as QB1 ahead of the upcoming campaign.

When asked about that, HC Matt Eberflus made it loud and clear that it was all about giving him the confidence he needs to be sure that this will be his team going forward.

Talking to Kay Adams for her Up & Adams show, Eberflus made it loud and clear that he didn’t think the job was too big for Williams.

Talent-wise, it’s hard to find a better, more polished, or more complete prospect than Williams.

He drew comparisons to Patrick Mahomes in college, but it’s not like he came devoid of doubt or criticism.

The fact that he’s not used to playing in such inclement weather, and some talk about his personality raised concerns.

Then again, all reports from the training camp have been very positive and encouraging.

The Bears have gone the extra mile to give Williams all the weapons he needs to succeed and thrive.

There are still some doubts about their offensive line and whether they’ll hold up to protect their prized rookie.

But for now, there’s no reason to believe that they can’t be special right out of the gate, and Williams will soon get an opportunity to give us all a glimpse of his talent.
