Matt Holliday played 15 seasons in Major League Baseball, splitting time between the Colorado Rockies, Oakland Athletics, St. Louis Cardinals, and New York Yankees before playing out his final season in Colorado.

Last year, his son Jackson was the first pick in the MLB Draft, selected by the Baltimore Orioles.

His son Ethan is also knocking on the door of Major League Baseball and could find himself in the MLB Draft in 2025.

On Tuesday, the former MLB outfielder and slugger caught up with New York Post baseball writers Jon Heyman and Joel Sherman to discuss the ability of his two sons.

Holliday was asked about how much of their ability has to do with genetics and how much of it has to do with coaching and mentoring.

The former outfielder says that genetics play a big role in it, but he also talked about how the teams he played for let him have his kids around in the clubhouse.

Holliday chalked it up to them being exposed to a Major League clubhouse as well as some very talented baseball players who like himself, taught them things about how to be good players and how to succeed in the game.

He also talked about the progress Ethan is making.

Ethan is the same height as his father and has much of the same ability.

Holliday says that Ethan recently had a solid weekend at Baseball Factory in Dallas and performed quite well.

He’s impressed with the way his son has progressed and believes that a bright future awaits him.
