The Green Bay Packers are going to play things safe with their starters.
That doesn’t mean they won’t put them out there.
According to HC Matt LaFleur, they intend to let Jordan Love and the starters suit up for the preseason opener vs. the Cleveland Browns (via Rob Demovsky).
Packers coach Matt LaFleur said Jordan Love will play in the preseason opener at Cleveland on Saturday.
Most starters will play. RT Zach Tom will not since he’s just starting team work today.

Per the coach, there’s nothing like game reps to get ready for the season.
Still, it’s not like they’re going to play for long; they will most likely be out there for a single drive and that’s it.
LaFleur also revealed that starting RT Zach Tom won’t suit up, as he’s just getting back and started team work earlier today.
The Packers were one of the most surprising teams in the league last season.
Following a slow start to the campaign, they closed out the year on a high note to not only sneak their way into the playoffs but also make a statement on the road vs. the Dallas Cowboys.
Love just became the highest-paid quarterback in NFL history, and with that kind of money will also come plenty of demands and responsibilities.
He was pretty impressive in his first season as a starter, but the rest of the league now has a full season of tape on him, so he must be wary not to settle and must keep working and evolving his game.
It’s an exciting time to be a Packers fan, and contrary to what most people thought, it seems like they don’t miss Aaron Rodgers at all.
