The Green Bay Packers are in a bit of a tough spot right now.

Jordan Love has reportedly let the team know that he doesn’t intend to show up to practice unless he gets a new contract.

And while they’ve always been interested in keeping him around for the long run, it seems like they will either have to rush things or settle for not having him there in the meantime.

When asked about that, HC Matt LaFleur didn’t hide his disappointment or discomfort about the situation (via 93.7 The Game).

The coach claimed that he wanted everybody to be there, not to mention the fact that Love happens to play in the most important position.

Then again, he also showed the utmost confidence in Love’s work ethic, and while there’s nothing like those physical reps to get atone for the season, he fully trusts him to be taking care of the things he needs to take care of to be ready.

The Packers trusted Love along the entire way, even when people questioned that draft pick and whether he was ever going to be a starting-caliber player.

Now, after just one season as a starter and a 1-1 playoff record, he’s taken a business approach.

Of course, one can’t criticize him for looking to maximize his value while he still can, but some fans might still be disappointed to see things come to this point after such a promising season.

Hopefully, both parties will get a deal done sooner rather than later.
