The Baltimore Ravens began their season on the right foot, taking care of business against the Houston Texans.
They now will head into Cincinnati with a matchup with the Bengals hoping to start the season 2-0.
Matt Ryan broke down this matchup in a recent segment of the NFL on CBS, discussing the Ravens’ new offensive scheme.
When discussing Lamar Jackson’s performance, Ryan said, “The stat that really jumped out for me, was that he was 15 for 15 with a clean pocket.”

Jackson ended the day with a passing line of 17-22, 169 yards and one interception.
The majority of his incompletions came outside of the pocket, which is to be expected, especially when throwing on the run.
Many analysts projected the Ravens’ offense to look differently this year, and Jackson already proved that in Week 1, as Ryan mentions.
Todd Monken’s offense will likely continue to give Jackson plenty of opportunities to step up in the pocket, delivering solid performances.
In the past, Jackson has been a run-first quarterback, often giving up on the pass if the pocket collapses.
Week 1 proved that he can be calm and collected in the pocket as long as it stays viable.
This upcoming matchup with the Bengals will likely provide a massive test for Monken’s offense.
The Bengals have several elite defensive linemen, hungry to capitalize on any gaps in the line.
Can Jackson repeat his pristine performance from Week 1, achieving perfection in the pocket?
His play during this contest will be an indicator of what he can do against other top teams across the AFC.
