For years, the Atlanta Falcons could rely on Matt Ryan to get the job done, at least during the regular season.
Ryan spent 15 years in the league, and he was constantly among the league leaders in passing yards and most quarterback-related metrics.
Nonetheless, just like what happened with Philip Rivers, there was always a debate about whether he was good enough to make the Hall of Fame.
With that in mind, NFL insider Ari Meirov asked him his thoughts on his HoF case, and the former MVP didn’t hesitate to say that he absolutely believes he belongs there.
“I do. The consistency that I had for a long time and the production that we had in Atlanta, I think speaks to it,” Ryan said.
I asked Matt Ryan if he should be a Hall of Famer: “I do. … The numbers speak for themselves. The consistency speaks for itself. I hope it’s something that happens one day.”

Ryan stated that his consistency and numbers speak for themselves, adding that he hopes to make it one day.
Truth be told, it would be hard to argue with him if he had won the Super Bowl, but losing that 28-3 lead late in the game took a big toll on his legacy.
Sometimes, the eye test made him seem like a Hall of Famer, and the same goes for his stats.
Others, you just weren’t all that sure.
For what it’s worth, Pro Football Reference’s Hall of Fame monitor gives him a 106.05 score, with the average HOF QB having a 103.58 score.
Ryan was named to one All-Pro team, made it to four Pro Bowls, was named Offensive Rookie of the Year, MVP, Offensive Player of the Year, and threw for well over 62,000 yards.
He retired with a 124-109-1 record and threw for 381 touchdowns against 183 interceptions.
Whether that’ll be enough to get in remains to be seen, but one could make a case either way.
