The Dallas Mavericks are coming off of one of their best seasons in years, having fought to the NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics.

That means they don’t want to make many changes or additions in the offseason but a few tweaks could be necessary.

According to Marc Stein, per NBACentral, the Mavericks are showing interest in Spencer Dinwiddie, Dennis Smith Jr., and Talen Horton-Tucker.

Stein reports:

“Dallas could elect to keep the spot open in the short-term, but league sources say that the Mavericks do hold an interest in re-signing Spencer Dinwiddie.. League sources say that the Mavericks have also considered signing Dennis Smith Jr. and Talen Horton-Tucker.”

Dinwiddie and Smith would be the least surprising choices out of these three because they both played for the Mavericks before.

Smith got his start with the Mavericks while Dinwiddie played for them during the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons.

During his time with the Mavericks, Dinwiddie became a fan favorite and averaged 17.1 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 4.9 assists.

Whether it be Dinwiddie, Smith, or Horton-Tucker, Dallas would be getting a shooter who could play clutch basketball and help out the team in big ways when it matters most.

But Stein’s report makes it clear that Dallas might not make any changes and could just stick with the roster they have now.

It’s obviously a very talented roster but some fans feel the Mavericks are just one or two minor adjustments away from being champions.

They played well throughout the postseason but the Celtics exposed some of their flaws and upgrades could help.

The Mavericks aren’t rushing to change their roster but new acquisitions could be on the way.
