Many players in the NBA have learned not to get in the way of Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks.

When Doncic wants to take a shot, he will try to move through just anybody to get it.

Former NBA star and Mavericks assistant coach Darrell Armstrong learned that the hard way.

Footage shared by Armstrong on Instagram, via Ballislife, showed Armstrong and Doncic in the practice gym getting some work in.

Doncic moved with such speed against Armstrong that he left him on his backside.

“Bryon Russell, I know how you feel now when Jordan pushed you off for the game winner,” Armstrong jokingly said.

Armstrong is of course referring to Game 6 of the 1998 NBA Finals.

During that game, Michael Jordan was guarded by Bryon Russell in the closing seconds.

Jordan put up a remarkable game-winning shot over Russell, although some people claimed that he pushed off of the player before shooting.

However, the referees never called a foul on Jordan for the alleged push and the Chicago Bulls ended up winning the game and the championship.

The fact that Doncic is being such a menace on the practice court is good news for fans of the Mavericks.

He has spent the whole summer working hard.

Doncic was, of course, part of Team Slovenia in the FIBA Basketball World Cup.

That team didn’t win a medal but Doncic was able to play well and also keep in shape in preparation for the new NBA season.

The Mavericks are trying to put their troubled last season behind them so Doncic’s current state is very promising.

Armstrong might be earning a few bumps and bruises from playing with Doncic but that bodes well for the season ahead.
