The Dallas Mavericks cannot afford another setback.

They’re down 0-2 to the Boston Celtics, and while they have more than enough talent to get back in this series, falling to a 0-3 hole would pretty much be a death sentence.

Fortunately for them, it seems like the odds are in their favor.

According to ESPN Bet, teams favored in Game 3 of the NBA Finals after going 0-2 are 8-0 since 1993.

The Mavs have -125 odds, so even though they’re not overwhelmingly favored, they still fall into this category.

The Mavericks could’ve and should’ve evened things up in Game 2.

Luka Doncic struggled mightily in the clutch.

He looked exhausted and banged up by as many as three different injuries.

However, Kyrie Irving has been the main one responsible for this debacle.

Irving has plenty of playoff and championship experience and is the team’s veteran leader.

Of course, this is Doncic’s team and they’ll go as he goes, but everybody needs a sidekick to win at the highest level, and Irving was supposed to be one of the best sidekicks in the game.

Still, it’s way too early to count the Mavericks out.

They just need to take care of business at home, and they’ll be right in the mix again.

Irving is an explosive scorer who can go off on any given night, and perhaps he just needs some home cooking to get it going again.

Whatever the case, it’s go-time for the Mavericks at home.
