The Dallas Mavericks didn’t play as well as they wanted on Thursday night and walked away with a disappointing Game 1 loss to the Boston Celtics.
That’s not good news for fans, of course, but there is a sliver of hope because the Mavericks have a good record when it comes to bouncing back in Game 2.
According to StatMuse, the Mavericks are 2-0 all-time in Game 2 in the Finals.
If that is any indication, they will be enjoying a much-needed victory on Sunday night.

Being down 0-1 isn’t good but being down 0-2 is even worse.
If the Mavericks fall into a 0-2 hole on Sunday then their chances of claiming their first championship in more than ten years will be slim.
In other words, they really want to win Game 2 and hope will be all but lost if they don’t.
Even though they have come all the way to the Finals, the Mavericks haven’t historically had great Game 1s during these playoffs.
Because of that, fans are trying to not freak out too much and know that things can turn around.
But they will feel much better if they see the Mavericks perform much better during Sunday’s game.
Luka Doncic did well during Thursday’s game, although he was limited with his assists.
Other players, such as Kyrie Irving, weren’t looking as great, and they will need to step up in the days ahead.
Head coach Jason Kidd and his staff will need to look at what went wrong and how the Celtics got the best of them.
They will make the necessary adjustments, find ways to make the Celtics struggle more, and gain momentum before heading back to Dallas.
